AI and calls
This is the permission you give at sign-up, spelled out. repear runs on AI: it reads your repair photo, talks the job through with you, and then telephones local pros on your behalf. Doing that means your photo, your conversation, and your job details go to our AI and telephony providers, and the calls we place are transcribed and may be recorded. Without this permission the app cannot arrange a quote.
What Peary does for you
You photograph the broken thing and talk it through with Peary, our AI concierge. Peary works out what needs fixing, then places phone calls to local pros in your area, describes the job, and brings the quotes back to you. You choose which one to accept. Pros hear an AI voice on the phone, never yours, and they reach you through us.
What gets sent, and to whom
OpenAI: your repair photo, both sides of your conversation with Peary, and the job context, so the AI can understand the job and reply. In realtime voice sessions we send a hashed, shortened version of your account ID as a safety identifier — the content itself can still identify you and is not anonymous.
Vapi, our telephony partner: the pro's phone number and the call instructions, which include your first name, the repair details, where the job is — a full address only if you gave one — what the AI saw in your photo, and a temporary link to the photo itself. Vapi holds the resulting transcripts and any recordings.
Google Places: the area you're searching in, or your address if you gave one, to find the pros to call in the first place.
What a pro is told
Your first name, where the work needs doing — the address itself only if you gave one, what needs fixing, what the AI saw in your photo, and how soon you need it. If you accept a quote, Peary calls that pro back to confirm, and calls again to pass on anything you change — the same details, plus the price and timing you agreed. Pros are not given your last name, your phone number, or your email address.
Recordings and transcripts
Calls Peary places to pros are transcribed and may be recorded, so we can pull the quote out of them, debug problems, and settle disputes.
Booking confirmations and update calls are handled the same way, and their summaries are kept with the job.
Vapi holds the provider copy of a recording under its own storage and access controls. repear does not give the app the stored provider URL; playback goes through an authenticated repear request.
A pro can return our call for up to 72 hours. Those inbound calls are transcribed and may be recorded too, and are matched to your job by the number they call from.
Your own conversations with Peary in the app are transcribed and kept with the job.
What we don't do with it
We do not train AI models on your data ourselves. Our AI and telephony providers process it to give us back a reply, a transcript, or a call, under the business terms we hold with them, and each keeps its own copy for its own retention period.
OpenAI, Vapi and Google handle your data under business terms with us that require it to be protected to at least the standard our Privacy Policy sets, used only to deliver the service we asked that provider for, and never used for the provider's own purposes.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.
We do not give pros a way to contact you directly, and we do not put your voice on a call.
How long it lasts
Transcripts and call summaries stay with the job for as long as your account is active. Recordings sit with our telephony provider and roll off on that provider's own schedule. A returned call we can't match to one of your jobs is kept unlinked to any account for up to 14 days so a human can work out which job it was about; our copy is then deleted automatically and we ask our telephony provider to purge theirs, which is best effort and still subject to that provider's own retention window.
Changing your mind
This permission is what the app runs on, so there is no way to keep an account and switch it off. If you want to withdraw it, delete your account — Profile → Delete my account. That removes your jobs, photos, quotes, call records, and messages, hangs up anything still connected, and starts cleanup with our identity, storage, and telephony providers. Provider cleanup is retried when it fails, but it is not instant physical deletion from provider systems or backups.
Where this sits
This page describes one permission in detail. The Privacy Policy covers everything else we hold and why, and the Terms of Service cover the agreement itself. Where they overlap, they say the same thing.
